Timing Chain Kit 2.4
Preparation: Gather tools: timing chain kit, wrenches, socket set. Disconnect the battery. Access the Timing Chain: Remove the valve cover and front engine cover. Rotate the engine to position number 1 cylinder at Top Dead Center (TDC) on the exhaust stroke. Disassemble Old Timing Components: Remove the primary tensioner, upper guide, and exhaust cam sprocket. Remove the intake cam sprocket, chain, and crank sprocket. Remove the oil nozzle and balance shaft components (tensioner, guides, sprockets, chain). Install New Balance Shaft Components :Install new balance shaft sprockets, ensuring proper alignment of timing marks with colored chain links. Install the new balance shaft chain, tensioner, and guides, torqueing bolts to specified values. Activate the tensioner by pulling the activation pin. Install New Timing Chain: Align the new timing chain with the intake cam sprocket, crankshaft, and exhaust cam sprocket, ensuring proper alignment with timing marks. Install new guides and tensioner, torqueing bolts to specified values. Activate the primary tensioner by compressing and releasing it against the chain. Final Assembly:Torque the cam sprocket bolts to the specified values. Install the front cover and valve cover, torqueing all bolts to the appropriate specs. Reconnect the battery and test the engine.
Ensure all timing marks are properly aligned before final assembly.Do not rotate the engine by hand once the timing marks are set, as they will not realign immediately.
